Ironman Training Week 5 Summary

This was my “easy” week. I had 4 straight weeks of hard workouts. I was away for a work conference so those workouts were not that hard so he extended the hard weeks out. It will usually be 3 on, 1 off.

Monday: EASY 60 min ride at 90 + cadence. Nothing harder than zone 2.

Tuesday: Swim 3,575 yards. Nice and easy. Some pulling, and a long 500 at the end. I took it really slow. I can’t remember the last time I saw 1:40 per yard as my average pace. Usually it’s 1:35 or lower. Bike 60 min at 90 + cadence, zone 1-2.

Wednesday: Bike 60 min. 10 minute warmup, 17 min @ 95-100 cadence, 5 min off, 17 min @ 100-105 cadence, and then cool-down until 60 min. Hour and a half strength/agility.

Thursday: Swim 3,300 yards (forgot my Garmin). Bike 60 min at 90 + cadence zone 1-2.

Friday: Bike 60 min at 90 + cadence zone 1-2. Hour and a half strength and agility.

Saturday: Bike 90 min 90 + cadence zone 1-2.

Sunday: Bike 60 min 90 +  cadence zone 1-2. Swim 2,200 yards.

Swim: 9,075 yards

Bike: 6.5 hours

Strength: About 3 hours.
