My friend messaged me Thursday night and told me that she received her USAT e-mail regarding qualification for Nationals in August 2015. At that point I hadn’t received mine! I kept checking my e-mail. I knew I qualified but I still wanted to see the e-mail. I won my age group at the Old Forge Triathlon in August.
Well I received It Friday night. I need to learn to be more patient.
A bunch of people were posting about Nationals on Facebook on Friday. A lot of them were doing Lake Placid and thinking that the races were too close. They almost had me convinced I shouldn’t do it until I got a text from my coach. He asked me if I got my e-mail and if I wanted to give it a go. I told him I wanted to but that everyone was advising against it on Facebook. He texted me this, “I believe that you can do it and do it well if you mentally believe that you can. You will be plenty good enough shape. It’s the mental part that will be the toughest part to handle. You’re strong and determined so it will be alright. That’s why I don’t like social media.”
Well that definitely helped! I don’t care what everyone else thinks. I am going to do what I want to do even if it seems like a lot after Lake Placid. I plan on doing the Olympic that I qualified for as well as the Sprint because, why not? It will be my last race of the season so it can be fun. We discussed that if I do Nationals I won’t do Old Forge. It would just be too much and I would be burned out.
I also really want to go back because I had a crappy race at Nationals in 2014 and I want to redeem myself. I can’t wait to see what I can do under my coach’s guidance. He told me before I hired him that I could have easily been 15 minutes faster this past summer. I am coming for you Nationals! Hopefully I don’t get a flat tire this summer right before transition closes…
We plan on carpooling and going Thursday – Sunday. We plan to leave after the sprint awards (not for my sake, most likely his). I just need to pull the trigger and register. Once he confirms with me then I am going to!
