Ironman Training Day #4

I woke up feeling so much better! I felt tired, but I could kind of breathe again and I could smell. Hallelujah that means I could taste what I ate. Now that makes for a much better day. I hit the snooze button a few times but realized I needed to get moving if I was going to be in the pool by 6:15 a.m. with Elyssa.

I packed my stuff and headed out the door. Of course the “swimmers” were doing their workout so we were going to have to wait for a lane. We planned for that and knew they would be getting out sooner rather than later. A cute old lady was swimming alone in one lane and told us she was almost done. She was so sweet! Elyssa and I jumped in and got started on our workout. We had a 300 warm-up and 4×75 build. The swim felt good. I was still tired from being sick and getting used to all of this working out, but we kept a solid pace.

During one of the intervals I looked up and saw someone standing over us. I thought to myself, “no, please, no circle swimming.” When we got back to the other side, he was gone. Another lane must have opened up, thank god. We did 20 100’s. Yes, 20. We did different things with each one that Matt laid out for me.

We did 3,300 yards in 53 minutes (not including rest). My Garmin told me my average pace was 1:37. Not bad for being sick! We were out of the pool and in the shower by 7:30 a.m.

I am still getting my life together this week so I didn’t prepare any breakfast. I headed over to Panera and got the steal cut oatmeal with strawberries, pecans, and brown sugar to go. I couldn’t wait to wolf it down once I got to work!

I got to work and devoured my breakfast. My day went by pretty fast. I love being busy at work. I also had a student send my boss an e-mail about how much he appreciates my help and how I go above and beyond for him. It made my day. I am not an emotional person but I almost teared up. Must be because I am sick 🙂

After work I headed to Wegmans. I got some food for dinner. $20 and I was out of there. I like that Wegmans always has a good selection but their $8.99 per pound is a little insane. Whole Foods charges the same amount but has a way better selection and better quality food. Anyway…

I headed home, ate a little, let the food settle and set my lovely trainer area up. I had 1:30 minute ride tonight. It sounded like so long. I watched one episode of The Biggest Loser. Good thing my computer kept freezing because it made the show last longer. At around an hour it was over and I just listened to some music. My coach told me that he just gets in the zone and doesn’t watch TV while he rides indoors. I tried to channel him and just listen to music. It’s a start, right? My ride was done and I was completely drenched. I need to use a bigger towel. I am still amazed by how much I freaking sweat! I need to set up a fan! I know it’s in a damn box somewhere.

I showered and ate some more dinner. Now I am watching TV and writing this post and looking forward to sleeping.
